POSITION OVERVIEW

The job holder reports to the Finance Manager and is responsible for end‑to‑end General Ledger accounting, month‑end closing activities, balance sheet integrity, statutory and tax compliance, and financial support to the business. The role ensures accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with company policies, SOX requirements, and local statutory regulations.

PRIMARY DUTIES

1. GL general voucher preparation/ BS & Bank reconciliation (45%)

  • Prepare and post month‑end journal entries including payroll, accruals, prepayments, amortization, provisions, and reclassifications.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual GL close activities in accordance with corporate timelines.
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations (BS substantiation) on a monthly basis and investigate/resolvetiming differences.
  • Perform weekly and monthly bank reconciliations and follow up on reconciling items.
  • Maintain control over GRNI / RNI (Goods Received Not Invoiced) and ensure timely clearance.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and integrity of GL accounts in compliance with US GAAP / local GAAP.
  • Support monthly financial analysis of actual results versus budget and forecast.

2. Sub-Ledger, Intercompany & Treasury Support (15%)

  • Review import and intercompany AP invoices.
  • Ensure AP and AR sub-ledgers reconcile to GL.
  • Prepare LC applications and quarterly LC outstanding reports.

3. Fixed Assets (15%)

  • Maintain fixed asset register.
  • Run and review monthly depreciation.
  • Ensure FA reconciliation to GL.

4. SST Report & Submission (10%)

  • Prepare and submit SST-02 and SST-02A.
  • Prepare tax instalments and related schedules.
  • Respond to tax queries.
  • Prepare the Exemption Certificate upon the request

5. Audit, SOX & Others (15%)

  • Prepare audited report, co-ordinate annual audit schedule exercise and ensure that submission are within the dateline.
  • Responsible for the timely submission of yearly tax returns and responding to any tax queries from the tax agents or corporate level.
  • Prepare monthly sales tax, corporate tax instalment and other related tax matters for AP payment processing arrangement.
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, bankers, company secretary and other professionals to ensure compliance with all matters relating to audit, tax and statutory requirements.
  • Review the SOX internal audit documentation of job assigned and conduct SOX self-testing for quarterly reporting purposes.
  • Assist in ad hoc projects and/or other assignment as requested by the management if needed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor degree in finance/accounting / relevant Professional Cert.
  • 2-3 years audit experience will be an added advantage.
  • At least 5 years business/financial analysis experience, preferably with a multi-national organization;
  • Strong hands‑on experience in GL accounting, month‑end close, and balance sheet reconciliation.
  • Sound knowledge of SST, tax, and statutory reporting in Malaysia.
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g. SAP, AccPac) is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Good command of written and spoken English.
  • Self‑motivated, results‑oriented, and willing to challenge the status quo for continuous improvement.
