Process Engineer, Aurora, IL

H.B. Fuller is seeking an experienced Regional Process Engineer who will support the Construction Products division of H.B. Fuller and is based at our production facility in Aurora, IL. The role will support other North America Construction Products production facilities across the U.S.

Description:

The Process Engineer will have primary responsibilities for:

  • Accessing PLC driven control systems to retrieve data to diagnose failures and provide management information for improvement.
  • Leading continuous improvement & innovation efforts in optimizing manufacturing control systems across the business.
  • Routinely calculating financial operational metric impacts of process alternatives and presents recommendations to management.
  • Leading continuous improvement projects to improve productivity, quality, safety, process capability, and unit cost.
  • Lead or participate in Capital Expenditure projects.
  • Support new product scale-up in manufacturing.
  • Support commissioning of new equipment / processes.
  • Ensuring proper design / safety reviews are conducted and proper management of change procedures are followed for new and existing processes.
  • Accessing PLC driven control systems to retrieve data to diagnose failures and provide management information for improvement.
  • Leading continuous improvement & innovation efforts in optimizing manufacturing control systems across the business.
  • Other work as directed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering required.
  • 3-5 years practical process or applications engineering experience in manufacturing
  • Proficiency in Studio 5000 & Rockwell FactoryTalk or other process control system programs.
  • Experience and competence evaluating and optimizing manufacturing processes. Including understanding financial and operational metrics.
  • Experience effectively communicating and interacting at all levels of an organization.
  • Effective Project Management skills.
  • Travel requirement: On average 20-40% but in first year minimal.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of practical process or applications engineering experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience with bulk solids material manufacturing.
  • Statistical Process Control.
  • Formal training in continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Exposure to reading and interpreting controls schematics.
  • Exposure to control system design.
