Position Title: Production Shift Manager
Location: Bellevue, OH
Shift: 12-Hr Day Shift - 6am-6:30pm (2-2-3 Schedule; every other Saturday, Sunday, Monday required)
Position Summary
The Shift Manager is responsible for leading shift operations in H.B. Fuller’s extrusion plant. This role ensures compliance with all corporate Safety, Quality, and Production programs while maintaining adherence to all H.B. Fuller policies, practices, procedures, and programs. The Shift Manager plays a critical leadership role in building a high-performing team and ensuring that plant performance goals are met. This position will need a strong leader interested in growing with the company.
Primary Responsibilities
Promote and maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment.
Ensure all operations are executed in accordance with H.B. Fuller’s policies, practices, procedures, and programs.
Meet or exceed customer expectations regarding product quality, service, and on-time delivery.
Collaborate with maintenance to minimize downtime and support proactive asset management initiatives.
Lead and support product scale-ups and new product introductions in an extrusion manufacturing environment.
Actively participate in plant meetings and committees (e.g., Safety, Quality, 5S, Housekeeping).
Identify issues related to safety, quality, productivity, and employee engagement. Use structured problem-solving to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
Maintain accountability for shift-level inventory, including reconciliation of material loss.
Build and develop high-performing shift teams; provide coaching and guidance.
Lead the Performance Planning & Assessment (PPA) process for all direct reports and ensure timely performance feedback. Handle all corrective actions in collaboration with the Plant Manager and HR.
Participate in the hiring, onboarding, and training of new employees; ensure new team members understand performance expectations.
Operate mixers, extruders, or forklifts as needed.
Provide break coverage for employees and support floor operations as required.
Start up or shut down the plant during shift transitions as appropriate.
Monitor team morale and operational concerns, escalating issues to plant leadership as necessary.
Support cross-training efforts and assist with employee development initiatives.
Ensure timely and accurate data entry into ERP systems to support production reporting.
Contribute to the achievement of departmental and shift KPIs.
Required Requirements
High School diploma with a minimum of 5 years of production experience (including 2 years in a supervisory role), OR
Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of supervisory experience.
Strong leadership and organizational skills.
Business and financial acumen.
Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office Suite.
Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage conflict, and drive results independently.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize and make effective decisions.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment (standing, walking, climbing stairs, exposure to heat/cold).
Must be able to lift 40 pounds regularly.
Strong familiarity with OSHA and environmental regulatory compliance.
Preferred Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or a related field.
Previous experience in extrusion or continuous manufacturing processes.
Experience in a 24/7 or rotating shift production environment.
Training or certification in Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
Track record of supporting culture change or safety transformation.
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.
The salary for this role is $75,000 to $95,706/yr.In addition to your salary, H.B.
