Fuller’s Engineering Adhesives segment develops adhesive solutions for the automotive and aerospace, wood and composite, electronics and energy, glass, durable assembly, and bus, truck, rail and recreational vehicle industries. The Quality Engineer will have regional support responsibility for the Engineering Adhesive business in North America and is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the business quality management system. The Quality Engineer will support the Automotive, Aerospace, Transportation, New Energy, and Durable Assembly markets and will report to the Regional Engineering and Quality Manager. 

This position will ensure that the customer experience is improved thru the reduction of quality incidents and improvement of quality processes across the region in all functions. The position will promote awareness of customer requirements throughout the organization and ensure that quality and business processes are defined, compliant, and continuously improved to our quality standards and systems.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensure the implementation and adherence to quality systems, processes, and standards across all phases of product development and manufacturing.

  • Implement and maintain regional level quality systems as requested.

  • Expert in Quality Systems throughout the organization including ISO9001, IATF 16949 and AS9100

  • Responsible for Customer/Supplier Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) coordination and submittal/approval.

  • Update and develop quality documents on an as needed basis. This includes Process Flow, PFMEA, and Control Plan documents.

  • Participate or lead customer audits, internal audits, or external audits as requested.

  • Leads 8Ds for customer complaints as requested.

  • Oversee customer complaint review process and ensure compliance to requirements.

  • Collaborate with Strategic Sourcing to define vendor quality requirements, compliance, and impact of vendor variation on the business to improve evaluation of vendor value.

  • Collaborate with the Sales team to understand and address voice of the customer, and to interface with and influence customer perspective with data and analysis.

  • Collaborate with Operations to ensure manufacturing and distribution methods, processes and performance are complying and managed thru a continuous improvement process.

  • Collaborate with Customer Service and Technical Sales/Service to ensure an effective dispute, claim and complaint management process is in place and achieving performance goals.

  • Lead process improvement efforts to identify systematic issues, perform root cause analysis, lead kaizens, engage broader teams and implement corrective actions to sustainably fix quality issues within the organization.

  • Train and develop on the implementation of quality systems, best practices, and standards and provide support to the teams

  • Develop a quality network among our sites, business, and regions.

  • Collaborate with global teams to develop standards across regions and business units.

Minimum Requirements

  • BS Degree

  • 5+ years related progressive experience in quality systems and manufacturing,

  • Experience with Quality Management systems: ISO9001-2015, IATF16949, NADCAP, AS9001, ISO14001

  • Experience in Automotive Quality Systems, Processes, and requirements.

  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.

  • Project Management Experience

  • Experience writing, developing and/or implementing a quality program.

  • Practical application of Root Cause Analysis, 8D, PDCA Cycle and other continuous improvement tools.

  • Proficient with MS Office suite or similar

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to plan and meet deadlines.

  • Leadership experience: lead, coach, and motivate the employees within area of responsibility.

Preferred Requirements

  • BS Degree (Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Science with experience in chemical manufacturing environments

  • 5+ years in multi-positions with quality management role.

  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing System.

  • Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt certified.

  • Certification in LEAN, Six Sigma and Project Management

  • Knowledge of SAP and/or similar database management systems

  • ISO 9001-2015 Certified Lead Auditor

  • IATF 16949 Certified Lead Auditor

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.

The salary for this role is $82,000 - $112,000.
