Position Overview
Facility Scheduler/MRP Planner reports to the Master Planner of the associated technology and is responsible for scheduling production through all phases of the process and for supporting procurement requirements.  

  • Proactively manages inventory to ensure the plant is supplied with optimal inventory levels of raw materials
  • Ensure all production requirements are converted into released process orders in the ERP system in a timely and accurate manner
  • Responsible for monitoring production requirements and communicating with appropriate departments to ensure availability of on-hand supply
  • Coordinating with the Master Planner to ensure products are manufactured based on priorities and in the most efficient manner and sequence and on the appropriate lines
  • Manage work-in-process inventory levels to the most efficient level (rework and heel)
  • Work with the S&OP Master Planner to meet or exceed assigned facility (s) KPI’s in particular with respect to schedule attainment, inventory profile and SIFOT
  • Effective management of business processes with discipline, speed, execution, and accountability to continually improve the material requirements planning process
  • Works closely with the sourcing team and master planner, to ensure constant and consistent material flow through the manufacturing process
  • Planner proactively analyzes and recommends inventory replenishment strategies, inventory policies, and safety stock strategies based on market demands and business goals.

Primary Duties:

  • Plan, create, and maintain manufacturing schedules for the assigned production facility to maximize machine time and labor hours in accordance with pre-set inventory targets and MRP strategies.  
  • Work closely with the Master Planner to set inventory targets and schedule production in compliance with established MRP strategies and annual budgets.  
  • Implement lean manufacturing strategies to optimize work-in-process inventory.  
  • Resolve issues as they arise, escalating where necessary to the Master Planner or Production Manager to achieve a quick and satisfactory solution. Coordination with Master Planner and other production sites across the global production network to optimize the end-to-end supply chain for all materials.
  • Use MRP to manage inventory levels of raw materials and packaging consistent with sourcing and operational guidelines and financial targets. Incumbent works with the master planner and applies decision-making to determine the appropriate balance of raw materials considering shelf-life, contracts, inventory targets, warehouse/carrier costs, and other vendor requirements.
  • Interpreting historical data as well as outlook/future forecasts.
  • Manage bulk deliveries into the plant to ensure continuous supply taking into account tank capacity constraints. 
  • Creation of purchase orders (POs) in alignment with system parameters and result of analysis.
  • Create POs in SAP (direct and indirect spend), Ariba for some indirect spend.
  • Create POs for inbound finished goods produced at other H.B. Fuller facilities.
  • Maintain accurate inbound delivery dates in SAP to ensure production schedule can best be managed around possible late deliveries by suppliers and escalate where necessary.  
  • File QNs (Quality Notifications) for raw materials not meeting requirements set forth by HB Fuller.
  • Ensure timely resolution of invoice discrepancies to enable prompt payment to our supplier base.
  • Take a lead role in using SAP to the fullest extent in support of planning activities.
  • Ensure Inventory Turns/ Inventory Cover achieves the target (to be defined by the master planner).  
  • Work with sourcing and SIOP to ensure SMOB (slow moving / obsolete inventory) is kept at minimal levels (as set by the master planner).
  • Continuous Improvement – ad-hoc project work to optimize the supply chain setup and network, including, but not limited to, inventory improvement (slow moving and obsolete), SIFOT improvement, network optimization, product wheel optimization etc.
  • Perform customer order review with shipping department and customer service to resolve issues involving order and schedule changes.  
  • Perform expediting duties as necessary.
  • Proactively follow through with supplier expedites and communicate as required
  • Facilitate strong communication with production personnel and remain aware of all the production trials, maintenance schedules, inventory requirements, and production restrictions.  
  • Remain informed of necessary raw material and packaging demands required to sustain continuous production.  
  • Lead daily and weekly production meetings with plant personnel.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or 2+ years related experience in scheduling and/or procurement
  • 3+ years’ experience in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong crisis management skills and ability to develop alternate solutions and carry through.
  • Ability to organize workload, determine priorities and establish and monitor deadlines.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities under pressure
  • Strong analytic and planning skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to work with and influence others from different functional areas.
  • Strong attention to detail.  Decisions directly impact customer satisfaction and sales revenue.
  • Work with minimum supervision. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • APICS CPIM certification

Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.

The salary for this role is $68K-75K.
