The Facility Technical Manager is responsible for managing the quality effort for Fridley. The Facility Technical Manager is the in-plant expert concerning production of the facility’s product line and manages the laboratory staff. This position will ensure that the customer experience and business financial performance are aligned and improved through the reduction of quality incidents and improvement of quality processes across the facility and all functions. The Facility Technical Manager reports to the Fridley site Director and is a member of the site leadership team ensuring quality products are produced with safety and the environment as a value.
Primary Responsibilities
QC Lab Manager
Manage 4–5 direct reports in the Quality laboratory and all processes they maintain.
Oversee general lab services, housekeeping, and sample preparation, maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
Devise/revise QC analysis methods in collaboration with R&D.
Lead incoming raw material quality control.
Quality
Lead, manage, and improve plant quality systems including ISO compliance with internal and external auditors
Build and maintain Bill of Materials (BOMs) and synchronize improvements.
Oversee rework management per standard business practices.
Improve product quality through gap analysis and tools like SPC, Pareto charts, 8D, etc.
Lead customer and plant quality investigations using root cause analysis tools and implement corrective actions.
Collaborate with Operations to ensure compliance and continuous improvement using Six Sigma and statistical tools.
Technical
Serve as in-plant expert on production processes and product lines.
Execute productivity, yield, and quality enhancements via process adjustments and/or formulation changes.
Collaborate with R&D on new product introduction (NPI), scale-up, and raw material acquisition.
Assist in process design and development, MOCs and capital projects.
Lead Kaizen events and broader team engagement for process improvements applying manufacturing “best practices”.
Minimum Requirements
BS/BA Degree in Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering, or other related area
3 years’ experience in the chemical industry in roles including but not limited to Process Engineer or Quality Manager position
Knowledge of SAP or similar ERP database management systems.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
Ability to lead and supervise others and solve problems independently.
Strong time management and organizational skills and ability to plan and meet deadlines.
Familiarity with quality management systems and “Best Practices” procedures.
Microsoft Word and Excel experience.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Requirements
Adhesives experience.
3 yrs management experience.
Proven track record of quality program management and quality improvement.
Exposure to applications using continuous improvement techniques; 8D, TQM, Problem Solving DMAIC, Fault Tree Analysis, FMEA’s, Lean Manufacturing, and 5S.
Extensive Statistical Process Control experience with proven results implementing and managing continuous improvement systems.
Experience with ASQ ISO 9000, or ISO 9000-2000.
Six Sigma certification; Green or Black Belt, experience in design for Six Sigma DFSS
Knowledge, experience and demonstrated results improving process capability, monitored and controlled via a Capability Index.
Process control experience within the batch manufacturing process.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.
The salary for this role is $90,000 - $110,000.In addition to your salary, H.B. Fuller offers employees a competitive total rewards package including comprehensive benefits, incentive and recognitions programs, health & wellness benefits, 401K contributions, paid time off and paid holidays. Eligibility may vary.
