The Lab Technician II position supports research and development activities focused on strategic business markets based on reactive hot melt technology. This function reports to a laboratory Senior Scientist or Section Leader position.

This position is located in Lüneburg, Germany.


This individual will be responsible for preparing sample quantities of reactive hot melt adhesive to facilitate R&D and customer opportunities. Primary duties include preparing, packaging and conducting sample characterization for products in the HB Fuller reactive hot melt product line.  

This is a hands-on laboratory and pilot plant position. Responsibilities would include securing raw materials, preparing samples, measuring physical properties, testing performance properties, running technical center equipment and keeping the pilot sampling area in proper working condition. In addition, a Technician I/II in the pilot sampling area must manage the inventory of raw materials, standard substrates and finished products.

In general the Technician I/II at HB Fuller must be able to perform complex, simultaneous laboratory tasks and procedures accurately and in a timely fashion. He / She must demonstrate ability to communicate well with fellow employees as well as suppliers and must have the ability to take a problem in its most basic form and reach a satisfactory conclusion with little supervision. They must possess the ability to be flexible and to quickly reprioritize and organize daily work based on changing business needs.

The Technician I/II shall fulfill responsibilities as required by the Quality System, Safety, and SOP’s for the site, laboratory and technical center.

Minimum Requirements

Completed education as either Chemical Technician or Chemical Laboratory Assistant with at least 1 year of professional experience in the chemical industry.  

Ability to perform complex laboratory and pilot plant tasks accurately and expeditiously with little supervision.

  • Experience in working within the field of polyurethane based products
  • Experience in characterization test procedures within the adhesives laboratory environment
  • Experience in working in a production atmosphere and maintaining the work environment
  • Knowledge of quality systems and troubleshooting methodology
  • Ability to support the composition of customer ready presentations
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
