Extruder Operator
Michigan Center, MI
Position: 2nd Shift Must be available for all shifts (1st, 2nd, and 3rd)
$21.38 per hour + $0.75 shift differential
(3 year pay progression: after year 1: $1.00 increase, after year 2: $2.00 increase, after year 3: $2.00 increase)
PRIMARY DUTIES
Under general supervision, performs entry-level production activities while following all safety, quality, and operational procedures. Responsibilities include:
- Prepare raw materials and packaging by identifying, measuring, and transporting the correct quantities to the designated production area. Report any deviations from standard processes and accurately document process start and completion times.
- Operate production and processing equipment in accordance with established work instructions, standard operating procedures, and safety requirements.
- Monitor equipment performance and production processes to maintain target production rates and identify operational issues.
- Perform initial product quality testing and release activities to verify products meet established specifications and quality standards.
- Verify labels and packaging materials to ensure correct product identification and compliance with established labeling procedures.
- Package finished products according to work instructions and H.B. Fuller quality standards.
- Maintain compliance with all Quality Management System (QMS) requirements, standard operating procedures, and all applicable environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations and company policies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area through routine housekeeping activities.
- Accurately complete production documentation, batch records, and other required operational records.
- Communicate equipment issues, process deviations, safety concerns, or quality concerns to the Production Supervisor or Production Manager.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by Production leadership.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma, General Education Diploma (GED), or equivalent education.
- No previous manufacturing experience required.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow work orders, production procedures, safety requirements, and quality documentation.
- Ability and willingness to work assigned shifts, including overtime as required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- One (1) year of experience in a manufacturing or industrial production environment.
- Basic English communication skills, including the ability to understand written and verbal work instructions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Ability to climb stairs and work safely throughout the production facility.
- Frequent use of hands and arms to handle materials, tools, and production equipment.
- Ability to reach, stretch, stoop, bend, and perform repetitive movements.
- Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds independently and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to temperature variations, chemical odors, dust, and production noise while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.
The salary for this role is $21.38 per hour + $0.75 shift differential (3 year pay progression: after year 1: $1.00 increase, after year 2: $2.00 increase, after year 3: $2.00 increase).In addition to your salary, H.B.
