Lab Technician

The Lab Technician reports to the QC Lab Supervisor and has primary responsibility for performing quality checks on raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods; maintaining sample retains; and keeping production informed of changes to work instructions.

Schedule:

  • Must be available for all shifts (1st, 2nd, 3rd).

  • Occasional weekends and overtime.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Execute and adhere to all EHS requirement as well as maintain a safe work environment and follow internal safety rules and procedures including wearing proper, PPE as appropriate.

  • Participates in the general housekeeping of plant and work area

  • Enters and back-up all QA data test results in data Bases and spreadsheets

  • Maintains critical equipment and laboratory inventory supplies to support continuous uninterrupted QA lab support.

  • Maintains and manage Obsolete (Expired, damaged & returned goods), Off-spec and rejected material storage area for finished products to minimize waste generation as directed by supervisor. Insures that all customer complaints are checked within 48 hours and reported to management as directed by supervisor.

  • Complies with company policies and procedures.

  • Collects time sensitive samples. Maintains retain inventory of bulk raw materials and finished products.

  • Provides timely and accurate QA information to production and distribution. Remove: such as proper documentation and labeling of skids that are ready to ship.

  • Completes, maintains and process all other pertinent paperwork and records.

  • Submits daily routine batch release report and immediately notifies all affected personnel of any rejected batch/ lot number prior to shipping to customer.

  • Assists and becomes proactive in monthly meeting functions for Quality, Safety, Housekeeping and waste minimization.

  • Communicates all critical issues and problems concerning, QA, test equipment problems, schedule changes, and assignments to the facility manager.

  • Team player; volunteers to help where needed to get job done, and enhance skills. Works with some direction and supervision of QC supervisor  and the Quality  manager.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, Material Safety Data Sheets, batch sheets, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to read and assist in writing routine work instructions.

  • Ability to complete documentation correctly.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding and to carry out written and / or oral instructions.

  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide positive leadership.

Required Skills:

  • A High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency

  • Experience in working in a lab or manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Quality or lab training

Physical Environment:

  • Regularly required to stand.

  • Frequently required to walk, climb stairs, use hands to remove or lift boxes, stretch and reach with arms extended, and stoop.

  • Regularly lift and / or move up to 50 pounds, alone, and occasionally lift and / or move more than 100 pounds, with assistance. Not sure if this meets the current lifting rules at MC

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.

The salary for this role is $21-$24/hr.
