Position Title: Senior R&D Manager

Location: St. Paul, MN

Position Overview
The candidate will manage a team of direct or indirect reports comprising senior-level professionals to achieve significant business impact. As a recognized expert both internally and externally, they will manage above their sphere of influence, optimizing team performance by articulating overall strategy and translating it into measurable goals. The role requires driving possibility thinking and achieving tangible results.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of senior professionals, driving influence beyond their direct sphere.

  • Optimize team peak performance through empowerment, coaching, and development.

  • Respectfully challenge the status quo and drive innovative thinking within and outside the organization.

  • Communicate strategy effectively and translate it into actionable goals to achieve impactful results.

  • Manage and prioritize multiple projects, tight timelines, and stakeholder expectations for high business impact.

  • Prudently and creatively manage resources without compromising quality and results.

  • Lead global or cross-functional project teams, collaborating across disciplines and regional boundaries.

  • Provide technical leadership on GCTs, R&D initiatives, and working groups.

  • Work with external organizations and customers/OEMs to meet objectives.

  • Develop team members and the broader organization while ensuring safety and efficiency.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field with 10 years of R&D management experience; or Master’s degree with 8 years; or Ph.D. with 6 years in R&D management.

  • Strong technical background and expertise in research and development.

  • Proven leadership and management of cross-functional teams in collaborative and innovative environments.

  • Track record of successful product development from concept to commercialization.

  • Strong project management skills, including planning, execution, and monitoring of multiple projects.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a data-driven approach.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and intellectual property considerations in R&D activities.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment with a strong sense of initiative and results orientation.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.

The salary for this role is $133,000 - $175,000.
