The Senior Scientist plays a key role in supporting Hot Melt production facilities through cross-plant initiatives, process standardization, and leadership in new product introductions and scale-ups. This role ensures quality and consistency across manufacturing sites and contributes to the successful commercialization of new products. Travel is required 10-20%.

Primary Responsibilities
• Provide cross-plant training and support for global and North American Hot Melt manufacturing
• Standardize testing and processes across similar facilities
• Monitor projects at Willow Lake through regular meetings and Stage Gate Reviews
• Communicate product updates and changes to plant teams
• Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) and scale-up efforts, including onsite support
• Oversee experimental batches until commercial launch
• Manage raw material (RM) projects from Willow Lake Lab and Strategic Sourcing
• Maintain RM substitutes and ingredient pools in SAP
• Conduct RM and finished goods recertification
• Update and maintain inspection plans, recipes, and RM data
• Support and understand Hot Melt production processes
• Validate, standardize, and optimize new processes
• Manage Management of Change (MOC) transitions from R&D to production
• Set and audit rework and batch adjustment protocols
• Investigate batch quality issues
• Perform lab testing and coordinate technician support
• Create and maintain NPI recipes
• Collaborate with Operations, Strategic Sourcing, and other support functions to improve customer satisfaction, reduce defects, and enhance productivity

Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Food Science, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in product development, scale-up, or manufacturing support
• Strong understanding of production processes and quality systems
• Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems
• Ability to travel up to 10-20% for plant support and scale-up activities
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Preferred Requirements
• Master’s degree or PhD in a scientific discipline
• Experience in global manufacturing environments
• Familiarity with Stage Gate processes and MOC protocols
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.

The salary for this role is $87,000 - $110,000.
