Inventory Supervisor

Position Summary

The Inventory Supervisor is responsible for overseeing inventory control, materials management, managing shipping and receiving operations, and related warehouse activities to ensure uninterrupted production and customer fulfillment. This role maintains accurate inventory records and drives continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, inventory accuracy, and cost control. The Inventory Supervisor collaborates closely with Production, Purchasing, Quality and Logistics teams to maintain optimal inventory levels, ensure material availability, manage freight activities, and support compliance with company policies and ensure inbound and outbound freight is managed efficiently and accurately.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Inventory Control & Accuracy

·         Oversee and maintain accurate inventory records for raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), finished goods, chemicals, PPE and other stocked items within the production facility.

·         Ensure inventory availability to support production schedules, customer orders, and shipping requirements.

·         Monitor inventory levels and initiate replenishment activities to prevent shortages while minimizing excess inventory.

·         Conduct physical inventories.

·         Investigate inventory discrepancies and coordinate corrective actions to improve inventory accuracy.

·         Review and communicate significant inventory variances to management and Finance prior to processing adjustments.

·         Maintain inventory control procedures that ensure proper storage, labeling, traceability, and handling of materials.

Leadership & Team Development

·         Supervise 5-6 Shipping/Receiving team members.

·         Provide training, coaching, and performance feedback to ensure adherence to company SOP’s and warehouse procedures.

·         Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to inventory tracking, material movement, and warehouse operations.

·         Ensure employees are trained on ERP systems, UPS software and internally developed programs.

·         Promote a culture of safety, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

Shipping, Receiving & Logistics

·         Manage daily shipping and receiving operations to ensure accurate and timely movement of materials and products.

·         Coordinate company freight, company truck schedules, and transportation activities between production facilities.

·         Monitor inbound and outbound shipments to ensure timely delivery and receipt of materials.

·         Partner with customers, suppliers, and logistics providers to resolve shipment issues and improve service levels.

·         Support tracking and delivery of critical production materials.

Materials Management & Procurement Support

·         Assist in maintaining inventory levels of raw materials, chemicals, packaging materials, and production supplies.

·         Collaborate with purchasing and other departments to prepare requisitions and purchase orders for materials and equipment.

·         Monitor supplier performance related to quality, cost, and delivery requirements.

·         Support qualification and evaluation of new suppliers in partnership with Quality, Accounting, and Operations teams.

·         Assist with development and implementation of inventory optimization and cost-reduction strategies.

ERP, Reporting & Process Improvement

·         Ensure accurate and timely inventory counts.

·         Maintain data integrity and compliance with inventory min/max levels.

·         Generate inventory reports, variance analyses and management summaries.

·         Analyze inventory trends, consumption patterns, carrying costs, and operational performance metrics.

·         Recommend system enhancements, inventory parameter changes, and process improvements that improve efficiency and reduce costs.

Compliance & Safety

·         Ensure compliance with company policies, inventory control standards, safety requirements, and regulatory guidelines.

·         Support internal and external audits by maintaining accurate inventory documentation and transaction records.

·         Coordinate proper handling and disposal of surplus materials and hazardous waste in accordance with applicable regulations.

·         Assist with compliance inspections and implementation of corrective actions.

Additional Responsibilities

·         Support month-end and year-end inventory close processes.

·         Assist with variance reporting and audit preparation.

·         Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory, warehouse, logistics, and material management processes.

·         Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

·         Associate degree or equivalent work experience in Supply Chain, Operations, Logistics, Business, or a related field.

·         3-5 years of experience in manufacturing, materials management or fastener processing.

·         1-3 years of experience leading or supervising employees.

·         Experience using ERP systems preferably Epicor.

·         Strong knowledge of inventory control processes, cycle counting, reconciliation, and warehouse operations.

·         Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and inventory reporting tools.

Preferred

·         Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, or related field.

·         Experience in chemical, manufacturing, or process production environments.

·         Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and continuous improvement methodologies.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.
