Position Title: Costing Intern
Position Overview: A Financial Costing Intern supports the costing team in analyzing and tracking the costs associated with products. This role typically involves assisting with data collection, validating cost inputs, preparing reports, and helping maintain accurate unit costs.
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with Excel are key to success in this position.
Primary Responsibilities
• Material setup processes. Help to review material attributes provided by business to ensure key costing attributes are complete, accurate and in alignment with costing policies.
• Performs material master data analysis to identify discrepancies and ensure alignment with operational and financial requirements.
• Helps on the moving average cost analysis for raw material and packaging materials to identify potential material valuation errors. Leverages knowledge of procurement and accounts payable processes and collaboration with key stakeholders such as Sourcing, Buyers, Accounts Payable and Logistics to investigate potential errors and correct common valuation errors in the system.
• Helps on the Monthly Cost Run analysis and updates, ensuring that current raw material and packaging costs are accurately reflected in intermediate and finished goods costs. Understands the impact of recipe updates, bill of materials (BOM) changes and production versions (PVs) changes on the standard cost of produced materials. Identifies potential errors and leverages knowledge of plant manufacturing processes and collaboration with plant personnel to resolve common issues independently.
• Maintains less complex financial records and contributes to the analysis of basic financial statements.
• Participates in stock take training to understand the protocols plants must follow. Supports the stock take process by addressing finance and system-related questions, extracting reports for rollforward/rollback procedures.
• Helps to respond to product cost-related inquiries in collaboration with operations and commercial teams. Offers insights into cost behavior and potential business impacts, helping drive informed decisions by the stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related discipline
• Fluent in English language
