Position Title: EHS Assistant
Location: Preston, UK, Onsite
Position Overview
The EHS Assistant supports the EHS Manager in ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations. This role oversees hazardous/non-hazardous waste management, assists with safety training, and helps maintain EHS standards in alignment with company policies and legal requirements.
Primary Responsibilities
Monitor air emissions, waste disposal, and hygiene measurements.
Assist with implementing and managing the Environmental Management System (ISO 14001).
Ensure compliance with EHS policies and regulations.
Oversee waste management and disposal processes.
Conduct internal EHS audits and track corrective actions.
Deliver initial EHS training to new employees.
Support emergency response and preventive safety measures.
Maintain high workplace housekeeping standards.
Minimum Requirements
EHS experience in a manufacturing environment or educational background in EHS.
Strong proficiency in IT systems (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
Ability to interpret legislation, strong communication skills and decision-making capabilities.
Preferred Requirements
Degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Environment or equivalent (e.g. NVQ, etc.)
NEBOSH General Certificate or Diploma; IEMA accreditation.
Training in chemistry lab techniques.
