Job Title: Scientist II

Location: Ras Al Khaimah



Position Overview



The Scientist II supports Research & Development and Technical Service activities for strategic business markets within the BAS Business Line. This role is responsible to spearhead laboratory experimentation, advanced application testing, rigorous documentation, in-depth product evaluation, and seamless technology transfer to accelerate market impact.

This position is required to support ongoing R&D projects, product development, and lab testing critical to the BAS business. It ensures timely innovation, raw material evaluation, and technical support essential for customer and plant needs.




PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Design and execute advanced lab experiments to innovate and optimize product performance.

  • ·Conduct rigorous application testing tailored to real-world construction demands.

  • Author precise technical documentation, reports, and protocols to support regulatory compliance and knowledge transfer.

  • Perform in-depth product evaluations, including stability, efficacy, and scalability assessments.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to facilitate seamless technology transfer from lab to production scale.

  • Provide technical expertise to internal teams and external customers, resolving complex challenges in strategic markets.

Critical Qualifications & Expectations

  • Proven Product Development Leadership: Demonstrated success in construction segment product innovation—from ideation and formulation to commercialization and scale-up. Track record of delivering high-impact, market-ready solutions.

  • Regional Expertise: Currently based in the ME region (strongly preferred) to leverage local market insights, foster agile partnerships, and drive region-specific strategies.

  • Technical Mastery: Comprehensive command of solvent-based products and formulations.

  • Extensive hands-on exposure to waterproofing coatings and sealants, with deep knowledge of PU (polyurethane), MS Polymer, and Silicone technologies.

  • Industry Acumen: Solid understanding of construction sector dynamics, including regulatory landscapes, customer needs, and competitive trends.

  • Relevant Experience: 5+ years in R&D, product development, or technical service within adhesives, coatings, or sealants—ideally in construction applications.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry with 5+ years of relevant experience, OR

  • Master’s degree in chemistry with 2+ years of experience, OR

  • Associate degree in chemical technology with 4+ years of industrial lab/application experience.

  • Familiarity with laboratory testing methods, equipment, and adhesives‑related processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Solvent based, Water based Emulsions, Rubbers, Polyurethane, Acrylic, Elastomeric Polymers and related chemistries

  • Knowledge of quality systems, product development processes, and adhesives performance testing.

  • Ability to prepare clear, concise technical reports and customer‑ready presentations.

  • Strong communication skills in English (verbal and written).

Work Environment

This role operates within an R&D laboratory and technical center environment, requiring adherence to all safety and operational protocols.
