Asia Pacific Segment Finance Director

The AP Segment business will made up of four subregions; Australia/New Zealand, Greater China, Korea and South East Asia. In 2018, Asia Pacific Segment will operate 9 manufacturing facilities throughout Asia Pacific and is expected to generate net revenue of approximately $290million including Seksui Fuller Royalty Income.

The Asia Pacific Segment Finance Director will report directly to the H.B. Fuller EVP and CFO and will be part of the Global Finance Leadership Team. He/She will also have a strong dotted line reporting relationship to the Vice President of Asia Pacific and be part of the Asia Pacific leadership team. This person will manage a core team of Finance business partners and financial analysis managers that support the business and will be a member of the H.B. Fuller Finance Leadership Team.

He/She will be a key advisor to the Vice President, Asia Pacific; will participate in the development and execution oversight of Asia Pacific Segments’ commercial and operations strategy and will be accountable for driving key elements of the plan. Beyond the traditional roles of planning, budgeting and reporting, the Finance Director is expected to drive execution of key business initiatives and outcomes.


  • 60% Commercial Financial Strategy Analysis and Support

    • Provide financial support and strategic input to the business to deliver on profitable growth in line with the strategic plan.

    • Provide insight and value-added analysis on the financial performance of the business

    • Deliver comprehensive analysis of the financial results of the business unit following each reporting period so that the leadership team is clear about how the business is performing versus the budget, prior year, and forecast

      • Understand the impact of unusual items that skew the interpretation of the true financial performance

      • Monitor sales and preliminary margin throughout the period to provide a weekly “flash” of progress against budget, prior year, and forecast

    • Provide analytic support to business leadership to enable the team to effectively manage pricing actions for all customers of the business units supported; monitor raw material outlook and price realization to understand extent of pricing actions required to achieve budgeted contribution margin percentage

    • Provide all financial modeling support for all innovations of the business units supported as required by the innovation stage gate process

    • Develop financial models for specific situations and purposes (e.g. customer profitability, manufacturing arbitrage, vendor performance, etc.) to provide support for decision making

  • 30% Forecasting, Budgeting, and Strategic Planning Support

    • Collaborate with business leadership teams to develop a financial outlook (forecast); focus on improving forecast accuracy and determining the most likely scenario for the balance of the year

    • Collaborate with business leadership team to develop a financial budget (in conjunction with Financial Planning & Analysis)

      • Ensure the team understands where and how the business unit is expected to grow (price, new business, erosion, market growth, etc.)

      • Commit to and be accountable (along with the General Manager) to deliver the budget commitment every year (revenue, contribution margin, SG&A expense, operating income, and operating income margin)

    • Assist business unit leaders with updating and building their annual 5-year Strategic Plan

    • Present, along with General Manager, operational review and outlook presentations to executive leadership of H.B. Fuller Company on a quarterly basis

  • 10% Special Projects / Other

    • Monitor and evaluate the relevant components of new working capital for the business units supported (receivables terms, credit risks, inventory levels, payable terms, etc.)

    • Serve as business unit representative to external auditors, meeting on quarterly basis to review key P&L and Balance Sheet items

    • Coach business leader and others on the leadership team to increase their financial acumen

    • Collaborate among peers to standardize, where relevant, groups of work to utilize consistent templates and processes

    • Collaborate globally to ensure the leverage of best practices and the standardization of processes

    • Support Global Collaboration Teams (GCT) as required with creating hybrid financial statements, analyzing growth and profitability trends, and supporting the GCT leader as needed

    • Assist in acquisition due diligence and integration for targets in this business unit.


Management of 5 direct reports to include manager level employees. Must be able to collaborate with others in a highly matrix environment and utilize influence and relationships to be successful. Supervise team members when leading finance projects.


Directly supports the Asia Pacific business unit with annual revenue of approximately $290million.

Job Requirements

  • BA or BS degree in Accounting or Finance

  • 15+ years of experience in finance or accounting experience (Financial Planning & Analysis, Accounting, Corporate Finance, Commercial Finance, Treasury) of which at least 5 years of supervising multiple management level employees and their teams.

  • 7+ years of experience in financial analysis supporting a business unit

  • Prior experience with joint P&L responsibility for a business unit with multiple location of finance teams

  • Ability to travel up to 25% on average


  • MBA or currently in pursuit of an MBA

  • Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) experience

  • SAP experience

  • CPA or CMA

  • Proven success leading managers and other team members in a fast paced environment
