Position overview

The Senior IT Admin reports to IT Infrastructure Manager, Asia Pacific Region and has primary responsibility of focusing manage IT infrastructure, IT service, IT security and first level applications support, Implement and monitor IT process, MIS and support customer IT needs, including:

  • To assist in managing and supporting of hardware, software, server, desktop, shared infrastructure, voice & data networks and telephones

  • To ensure all components are maintained and work reliably to meet company needs

  • To promote the effective use of new and existing technology

  • Responsible for implementing and following global standards in the region and participating in a matrix global IT team

  • Interface with external vendors as required

  • Assist in the definition of practice / process standards for the regional IT environment

  • Responsible for implementation and ongoing support of those practices and processes

  • Provide integrated management and coordination of incident management, problem management, change management, and availability management process to meet the commitments to business in a cost-effective manner.

  • Provide a holistic view of the HBF IT environment and make recommendations to improve overall service.

  • Responsible for implement and follow global standards in the region and participate in a matrix global IT team.

  • Ensure the compliance of implement IT strategy.

  • Ensure an efficient and effective services in the locations and country.

  • Ensure quality and profitable services are performed to the agreed SLA.

Primary duties

The primary customers are internal users. Areas of focus include:

  • Infrastructure support – server, network, computer and service desk [70%]

  • Provide first point of contact for users

  • Work with stake holders and provide strategic input in line with the organization growth of the sub region

  • Analyze, manage and propose solutions in regard to IT operational risks like loss / theft of data

  • Support Asia Pacific region as part of Service Desk

  • Resolve user issues on first call or escalate as appropriate

  • Monitor the status of user problems after escalation and follow up to the requester

  • Provide status reports as required

  • Support scope will include but not limited to:

    • IT equipment maintenance (desktop, notebook, server, printer, network, etc.)

      • Security administration of local and remote users

      • End user training

      • Disaster recovery procedures, system recovery, virus remediation, etc.

      • Coordinate telephone system maintenance & troubleshooting

      • Server administration

      • Manage local and network based backups

      • Perform preventive maintenance on computers

      • Manage end-point security through existing tools and software, coordinate recovery with user

      • Assist with operating system & application updates

      • Application deployments using global tools and processes

      • Perform analysis and recommend upgrade of computers

      • Perform training on new technologies whenever there are new updates or versions

      • Coordinate implementation of services using external contractors

      • Coordinate activity and remote implementation of required services using external contracting and service firms

  • IT Service Management [20%]

  • Pro-actively monitor systems to enable speedy detection and remediation of potential and actual IT failures.

  • Initiate IT infrastructure changes to promote better system availability challenges and eliminate potential issues.

  • Use collected information of driving major incidents to drive technical teams take corrective actions. Reduce the frequency of repeated incidents.

  • Ensure major changes undergo rigorous review before implementation to help prevent incidents.

  • Ensure that services are designed and delivered to meet their availability targets.

  • Align with global IT team to deliver a consistent support to all end users by ensuring processes, support channels, services and service.

  • Drive process improvement and keep enhance IT services.

  • Represent and communicate the IT solutions to business team with business understandable terms.

  • Manage the relationships and governance process around IT services for local and global infrastructure vendors

  • Provide technical guidance, leadership and management oversight across the region

  • Coordinate activity and remote implementation of required services using different ways.

  • Budget responsibility (planning & actual tracking) for IT infrastructure in the country

    • Support Asia Pacific region as part of Service Desk, support scope will include but not limited to:

  • IT equipment maintenance (desktop, notebook, server, printer, network, etc.)

    • Security administration of local and remote users

    • End user training

    • Disaster recovery procedures, system recovery, virus remediation, etc.

  • Project Management [10%]

  • Overall responsible for the completion of all the IT projects; accountable for on-quality, on-time, and on-budget delivery of the solution.

  • Develop work plans, managing deadlines and coordination of project team and sub-team activities.

  • Estimating project resource and skill requirements, work with regional/global IT team to identify appropriate resources and managing their integration into the team.

  • Manage resource planning, allocation and deployment process

  • Participates in the effort to gather business requirements

  • Provide support & coordination for local and global project activities

  • Manage the country IT project portfolio

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in computer science or information technology

  • At least 5 year experience in a related area like:

  • ITSM tools like LANDesk, Remedy, Altiris, etc.

  • Servers : Microsoft SQL Server, VMWare and Citrix

  • Remote support tools like Lync, TeamViewer

  • LAN and WAN networks

  • System update processes and tools

  • Windows 7, Microsoft Server 2008 & 2012

  • Backup and recovery techniques

  • Anti-virus, anti-malware solutions and a good understanding of IT security

  • Microsoft Office applications

  • Active Directory

  • Cisco networking and IP Phone

  • Document management systems like SharePoint

  • Flexible work hours are required for collaboration with other H.B. Fuller team members around the globe. This may include remote support and after hours support.

  • Must be willing to travel as needed (<5%)

  • Ability to communicate in multiple languages – Fluency in English - oral and written is mandatory.

  • The candidate should demonstrate proficiency in the following competencies:

Preferred Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in the following technologies will be well regarded:

    • SharePoint administration and implementation

  • IT project management experience

    • Mobile computing

    • ERP support experience

Physical environment

  • The working conditions for this position would be anticipated to be those typical to an office. There may be some need to visit laboratories or manufacturing locations.

  • There is minimal physical effort required for this position other than typing.

  • The types of hazards would be typical to those seen in an office environment.
