Position Title: Quality Lab Technician I NA

Position Overview

The technician is responsible for providing support to the quality team. Techs are responsible for testing in process batches, confirming raw materials upon arrival and working with production to ensure customer satisfaction.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine laboratory tests, this includes but is not limited to ph, microwave solids, viscosity, grit, particle size, Gas chromatography

  • Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure it is properly calibrated.

  • Maintain detailed batch records, this includes raw material entry.

  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean working environment. Follow internal safety rules and procedures including wearing proper PPE as appropriate.

  • Collect/manage retained inventories of finished products

  • Manage nonconforming and rejected materials including proper storage and documentation

  • Proactive meeting functions for Quality, Safety, Housekeeping, and waste minimization.

  • Communicates all critical issues and problems concerning QA, test equipment problems, schedule changes, and assignments to the facility technical manager.

  • A team player: volunteers to help where needed to get job done and enhance skills.

  • Works with some direction and supervision of Sr. Lab Technicians and the facility technical manager 

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED. For internal candidates: minimum of one year in operations or warehouse. For external candidates: minimum of one year working as a technician in a Quality Lab.

  • Ability to read and follow work instructions, safety rules, SDS documents, batch sheets, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to complete documentation accurately

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to apply practical understanding to daily situations and carry out written and/or oral instructions.

  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience with Brookfield viscometers, CEM Smart 6 Microwaves, Draw-down apparatus, Gas chromatography

  • Proficiency with SAP

  • Strong computer skills

  • Prior experience in a chemical lab, or production environment.

Physical Environment

  • Frequent reaching, bending and moving off/on pallets.

  • While performing the duties of this position the employee is regularly required to stand.

  • The employee is frequently required to walk, climb stairs, use hands to remove or lift boxes, stretch, and reach with arms extended, and stoop.

  • The employee must regularly lift and / or move up to 50 pounds, alone, and occasionally lift and / or move more than 100 pounds, with assistance.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.
