Process Safety Engineer

H.B. Fuller’s South Bend, Indiana facility has an opportunity for an experienced Process Safety Engineer to lead process risk reduction efforts. The South Bend facility is covered by OSHA's Process Safety Management standard and specializes in the manufacture of adhesives and sealants utilizing flammable solvents. This role is critical within the operations team to ensure the safe handling and transfer of materials as well as to design and implement appropriate process safety control systems.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain programs to support compliance with OSHA's Process Safety Management standard's 14 elements as well as EPA's Risk Management Plan.

  • Lead Process Hazard Analyses on existing and new equipment and processes.

  • Support the Maintenance Department in the establishment of mechanical integrity elements and execution through integrity testing and preventative maintenance efforts.

  • Collaborate with the engineering and EHS teams on Management of Change reviews, Pre-Start Safety Reviews, and incident investigations.

  • Determine needed process safety controls or improvements and identify, design, and execute appropriate engineering controls.

  • Develop, revise, and maintain Process Safety Information for relevant equipment.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or relevant related field,

  • 5+ years experience in process safety engineering role, or related role in an industrial, chemical, or heavy industry manufacturing facility.

  • Knowledge in PSM and RMP requirements.

  • Experience in PHA facilitation and other forms or process risk assessment.

  • Background in functional safety design and process safety control systems.

  • 10% travel

Preferred Requirements

  • Knowledge of the chemical process industry, manufacturing processes, equipment, and chemistry including flammable materials.

This position is not eligible for work visa sponsorship. Applicants must have U.S. work authorization that does not now or in the future require H.B. Fuller sponsorship of a work visa to work for H.B. Fuller.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.

The salary for this role is $105,000 - $115,000.
