Position Title: Production Manager
Location: Surbourg – France
Position Overview:
The Production Manager reports to the Site Manager and is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective adhesive manufacturing, with a minimum annual output of 10,000 tons. The role ensures compliance with health and safety standards, meets customer expectations for quality and lead times, and supports cross-functional projects in maintenance, quality, and logistics.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Ensure the production of adhesives produced in the department, based on the Service Levels agreed within HBF and following internal and external rules and guidelines.
- Lead, Oversee and motivate the production team leaders and operators’ teams in order to maintain a good level of work and productivity.
- Continuously optimize and improve the production standards and processes on the site.(OEE, dashboard, KPIs…)
- Ensure that the production is made in accordance with production plan, procedures and standards, proposing changes whenever appropriate, in order to maximize the use of available resources, the reduction of operating times, increase productivity, reduce costs and decrease the number of nonconformities.
- Preparation of project proposals and capital expenditure requests
- Responsible for planning & scheduling, jointly with the local planning & S&OP team (asset planners).
- Plan the manpower needed to ensure the required production output (including external temporary labor).
- Ensure high availability of the production lines jointly with the repair and maintenance group.
- Ensure compliance with Quality & HSE policies and with the procedures set out in the HB Fuller Internal Policies
- Participate in Customer Audits.
- Ensure a safe working culture and make sure that high standards are achieved (PSM, Hazard studies, etc.).
- Responsible for EHS standards in the operations area with the support of EHS manager.
- Make employees aware of health and safety issues at work, with the aim of reducing accidents by ensuring and encouraging employees to follow the housekeeping rules and standards.
Budgetary / Financial Accountability:
- FL/MOH budget (Factory Labour and manufacturing overhead cost) in the area of responsibility.
- CAPEX Budget cost of projects in the area of responsibility.
Minimum Requirements
- Engineering Master degree (Chemical or others) or comparable experience
- > 5 years practical work experience in chemical or other manufacturing industry position.
- > 5 years practical work experience in managing employees.
- Ability to deliver key messages and communicate with all level in the organization and work under pressure if needed.
- Good spoken & written English and French language capability.
- “Hands-on” person.
- Good technical understanding & practice of operation performance KPI deployment & monitoring process.
- Good computer skills on standard software (MS-Office etc.).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in the chemical or automotive industry is essential.
- Adhesive industry would be a plus.
- Experience in working in an international environment.
- Good practice of the 5S-principles, Lean 6 Sigma, - Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certificate is a plus.
- Experience in manufacturing in an ATEX environment, dangerous, flammable materials
- Proven track records on leadership and performance management.
- Experience in ERP Tools and Inventory Management.
- Experienced user of ERP software (i.e. SAP).
Employees Supervised:
Direct reports up to 3, indirect up to 40.
