Position Title: Production Planner
Location: Remote, USA
Position Overview
The Production Planner plays a critical role in optimizing plant operations by developing and managing production schedules across multiple plants and technologies. This role ensures efficient resource allocation, inventory management, and alignment with organizational goals. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, collaborates cross-functionally, and drives continuous improvement in production planning processes.
Primary Responsibilities
Production Planning (Scheduling) – 55%
- Create and manage plant production plans by work center based on the Master Production Schedule (MPS)
- Analyze production issues and assign impact levels and reason codes in the system
- Reallocate schedules across plants as needed to meet demand
- Review demand forecasts and historical data to predict future production needs
Allocation Review – 30%
- Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and finished goods to ensure supply readiness
- Allocate labor, machinery, and materials to meet production schedules efficiently
- Ensure optimal use of resources to support production goals
Short-Term Communication and Decision Making – 10%
- Identify and communicate planning issues that may impact customer orders
- Maintain and communicate changes to production planning
- Collaborate with plant operations to ensure timely updates to internal and external stakeholders
- Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly operations meetings
Continuous Improvement – 5%
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in supply and production planning
- Participate in ad-hoc projects with operations and planning stakeholders
- Track key KPIs and assist in preparing reports on production outputs
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field
- At least 1 year of experience in production planning or a related supply chain role
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in planning tools and ERP systems
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
- Ability to travel 10–20% in the first 6 months, then 5–10% thereafter
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Preferred Requirements
- Experience working across multiple plants or technologies
- Familiarity with demand forecasting and inventory optimization
- Exposure to continuous improvement or lean manufacturing initiatives
- Strong understanding of supply chain processes and metrics
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.
The salary for this role is $70,000 - $75,000.In addition to your salary, H.B.
