The scope of this position is to lead a team of regionally distributed and focused engineeringand qualityresources that specify and ensure the requisite policies, processes, and engineering technologies to control the safety, quality, productivity, and environmental aspects ofEA’sNorth Americamanufacturing processes and systems.  

This position functions as the leader of theEA NA Quality and Engineeringteam and will manage a small team of matrix resources.  In order to be effectivethis rolewill be required to develop strong working relationships with the regional business leadership teams and partnerthe Engineering Adhesives Operations teamto align with HBF operations standards. This role will report directly to theAmerica’sEngineering Adhesives Operations Director.

The Engineering Manager will be the process engineering and quality expert for Engineering Adhesives North America manufacturing and engineering teams. This individual will set clear requirements for all quality and engineering processes and technology acrossEA in North America to control safety, quality, productivity, and environmental hazards.This position will lead the team accountable for the commercialization of new technologies resulting from product development and new product introductions. 

This individual willprovidetraining and development on incremental process improvement techniques for thefacilities andshare common learning and best practices. This individual will also be responsible for promoting activities and actions to help optimize existing plant processes and/or troubleshoot and solve production problems so that plants can operate at world class efficiency. 

To be successful in this position you must be a champion of continuous process improvement by assisting with the broader effort of changing HBF’s culture to one of continuous process improvement by assisting with the development of standard training materials, providing coaching and development, and providing input into communication plans and articles.

  • Provideleadership to ensure the organization attracts,developsandretainsthe best people and fosters an environment that motivates a diverse team to fully use its capabilities in achieving desired business results.

  • The position requires strategic thinking, and change management capabilities, as well as a vision for developing and leading the transformation plan for continuous process improvement across H.B. Fuller.

  • The candidate interacts with senior levels of the corporation and therefore must be able to effectively communicate, influence and manage change in order to be successful.

  • The candidate must be able to influence key stakeholders and work effectively across cultures in a highly matrixed organization.

Minimum Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.

  • 10 + years of experience in a process improvement role with at least 2 years of supervisory experience leading direct and matrixed teams. 

  • The candidate must have a broad appreciation and understanding of Chemical Unit Operations, RAGAGEP (recognized and generally accepted good engineering practices), OSHA PSM, Lean, Six Sigma, quality management, project management, and change management.

  • Demonstrated capital project support experience of $750K.

  • Professional Engineering licensure preferred.

  • The candidate must have a broad appreciation and understanding of Lean Six Sigma, quality managementsystems (IATF, AS:9100, ISO 9001),project management, and change management.

  • Possesses consultative style technical leadership approach with proven ability to identifying and developing solutions around process improvement.

  • Experience in developing and following yearly technical and business strategic plans and executing process improvement objectives aligned with those plans.

  • Travel requirementsdependent on project requirements.
